I love this tiny teapot, but when I finished painting it, I realized the pot and tray sits too low in the picture plane, resulting in too much background showing. Oh well, you win some, and you lose some :)
This little white teapot is used daily and is a workhorse in my household. The white was a real challenge to paint. I learned a lot about reflections and how adjacent color affects those reflections.
I am an artist in the Kansas City area. Painting .... particularly plein air painting, is one of my passions. I often use these little studies to complete larger paintings in my studio.
I prefer working directly from life, and use a limited palette of red... yellow.... and blue plus white. Each mixed color contains at least a little of all three primary colors. This simple primary palette brings a natural harmony to a painting.
My paintings are found in private and corporate collections throughout the United States.
I began this blog on August 18, 2008. This journal is about my daily life as a painter. I will post all of my new paintings here ..... and I hope you enjoy watching my growth and following my painting journey.
